來彰化除了吃爌肉飯之外,肉圓也是重點小吃之一。別看只是區區一個彰化縣,縣境內從北到南,一樣是肉圓但是滋味卻是大不同。今天要帶大家來到員林,嚐嚐在地人吃的肉圓有何不一樣?

三十餘年老店:在地朋友推薦
這家位於員林舊市區裡頭的肉圓劉是在地朋友介紹,記得上回到員林吃完來來牛肉麵後本來要挑戰,但是終究因為已經吃太飽而打消念頭。
民國73年開業至今,算一算也已經33個年頭過去了,說他是老店一點都不為過。
營業時間從早上10:08~晚上10:28分,那10:00來是不是需要等8分才有得吃呢?哈~

"Ba-Wan Liu," located in the old downtown area of Yuanlin, was recommended by a local friend. I remember the last time I was in Yuanlin, I wanted to give it a try after eating at Lai-Lai Beef Noodle Soup, but I was just too full and had to give up the idea.
Opened in 1984, it has been in business for 33 years. Calling it an old establishment is definitely not an overstatement.
The business hours are from 10:08 AM to 10:28 PM. Does that mean if you arrive at 10:00 AM, you have to wait for 8 minutes to eat? Haha~
白白胖胖肉圓:滿滿筍丁與肉餡
沸騰的油鍋,裡頭滾動著白白胖胖的肉圓,油炸只是回溫,並不會像阿三肉圓那樣炸到皮酥。
裡頭用餐區長這樣,圖中是我龜密兼助理一號本人,未婚,意者可以跟我聯絡。耐操耐用,費用低廉...(咦?)
說真的,因為路上已經吃了一桶胖老爹,這一餐真的為了幫大家介紹員林美食硬吃的,看我工作這麼辛苦,還不按讚就太沒良心了~
10間肉圓店好像8間都會用這種碗裝,基本上淋上醬料的肉圓,每一家看起來都一樣。
撥開肉圓皮發現,裡頭的餡料超滿,絞肉裡頭還有大量的筍丁,理論上應該是採用豬的肩胛肉。至於外皮,由於他們家的皮米漿的成分較重,所以吃起來沒有像加了番薯粉的那麼Q,吃慣台中肉圓的朋友,可能會覺得不習慣。也因為同樣的理由,這一顆吃完會很有飽足感。醬料方面口味有點偏甜,如果不要那麼甜比較不容易膩。

In the boiling oil pot, white and plump meatballs are rolling around. The deep-frying is just to reheat them; they won't be fried until the skin is crispy like A-San Ba-Wan.
The dining area inside looks like this. The person in the picture is my bestie and assistant number one. She is single; interested parties can contact me. Hardworking, durable, and low cost... (Wait, what?)
Honestly, because I had already eaten a bucket of Fat Daddy fried chicken on the way, I forced myself to eat this meal just to introduce Yuanlin's delicious food to everyone. Seeing how hard I work, it would be heartless not to give a "Like"~
It seems like 8 out of 10 Ba-Wan shops use this kind of bowl. Basically, once covered in sauce, every shop's meatball looks the same.
Peeling back the meatball skin, you'll find the filling is super full. The minced meat contains a large amount of diced bamboo shoots; theoretically, it should be pork shoulder meat. As for the outer skin, because their dough has a higher proportion of rice flour, it's not as chewy as those made with sweet potato starch. Friends who are used to Taichung Ba-Wan might not be used to it. For the same reason, you will feel quite full after eating one. The sauce is a bit on the sweet side; if it were less sweet, it would be less cloying.
店內另一招牌:隱藏版肉餡碗粿
店裡還有另一樣招牌,就是這個碗粿。
配料為碎菜脯,吃起來咖疵咖疵的,口感層次顯得豐富。
本來以為這碗粿跟台中版本一樣就是純碗粿,沒想到一切開發現,裡頭竟然也包著滿滿的肉餡。如果很呃,我覺得來這邊店一顆肉圓加一個碗粿絕對飽啊!!

There is another signature dish in the shop, which is this savory rice pudding (Wa-Guei).
The topping is minced preserved radish. It crunches when you eat it, making the texture richer.
Originally, I thought this Wa-Guei was just a plain rice pudding like the Taichung version. Unexpectedly, when I cut it open, I found it was packed with meat filling too. If you are very hungry, I think ordering one Ba-Wan and one Wa-Guei here will definitely fill you up!!
銅板湯品:豆腐湯與綜合湯
豆腐湯(10元) 店裡10元的湯品其實之前好像都漲到15元,後來再改回10元,完全是老闆反映成本的做法,因為成本降低了,所以售價也跟著降了。這樣有良心降價的老闆,我想全台灣應該找不到第二個吧?
每一碗有兩塊豆腐,而湯頭呈現像牛肉湯的顏色,是因為在裡頭加了蔭瓜一起熬,挺特別。不過這湯我個人覺得略為甜膩,甘甜度不夠,懷疑店家是不是有另外加糖調味?
綜合湯(20元) 一次嚐到三種湯料,那就點綜合湯就對了,20元的價格真的好便宜。
除了有一塊跟剛剛一樣的豆腐外,還有我最愛吃的蘿蔔以及貢丸~
這顆肉圓吃完真的會很有飽足感,害我吃完肉圓之後經過員林最有名的鵝肉攤看看就走。我這麼愛吃鵝肉的人,竟然會吃不下!!!!阿娘威~~

Tofu Soup (10 NTD). The 10 NTD soups in the shop actually seemed to have increased to 15 NTD before, but then changed back to 10 NTD. This is completely the boss reflecting the cost. Because the cost dropped, the selling price dropped with it. A boss with the conscience to lower prices, I think you probably couldn't find a second one in all of Taiwan, right?
Each bowl has two pieces of tofu, and the broth looks like beef soup because it is boiled with pickled melon, which is quite special. However, personally, I find this soup a bit too sweet and cloying, lacking the natural sweetness of broth. I suspect the shop might have added extra sugar for seasoning?
Mixed Soup (20 NTD). If you want to taste three kinds of ingredients at once, then ordering the mixed soup is the right choice. The price of 20 NTD is really cheap.
In addition to a piece of tofu just like the one before, there are also my favorite radish and pork meatball (Gongwan)~
Eating this meatball really makes you full. After eating the Ba-Wan, I just looked and walked past the most famous goose meat stall in Yuanlin. As someone who loves goose meat so much, I surprisingly couldn't eat anymore!!!! Oh my god~~
