If you come to Korea and don't have at least one meal of fried chicken, it's almost like you've come for nothing. Fried chicken is a popular national dish in Korea, and you can find fried chicken restaurants almost everywhere. This time, bringing Takeshi Kaneshiro of Peng-hu to Busan, we were supposed to take him to try KyoChon. However, on that day, we realized it was already late, and considering the distance and our laziness, we decided to find a random place to eat near Gunam-ro in Haeundae.

Gunam-ro is the large pedestrian pathway that leads to Haeundae Beach. It seems that it was under construction when I first visited Busan last year, but now it is almost completed. There are numerous restaurants lining both sides of this road, many of which are popular chain restaurants found throughout Korea. Today, the restaurant I am going to have the 60-piece fried chicken is one of them. This shop, in fact, I have passed by twice when going to Haeundae. Basically, when I came to Korea with someone before, I wanted to eat fried chicken, but it wasn't up to me to make the decision.
Signature Fried Chicken ₩9800, my friend suggested having this, so let's go ahead and eat it! There are a wide variety of options for ordering fried chicken, mainly varying in terms of cuts and sauce types. If you want to try multiple flavors at once, there are also combo meals available for selection.
Of course, when eating fried chicken, it's best to pair it with beer. The available option in the restaurant is CASS draft beer. Because Korean fried chicken is sometimes served with sauces, in addition to a fork, a personal iron tong is provided when eating fried chicken to prevent guests from getting their hands dirty.
Although it is a fast food restaurant, the variety of side dishes offered is not lacking. In fried chicken shops, they usually provide this radish pickles, which are sour and sweet and quite delicious. You can get free refills after finishing it. And then this cookie snack, why do I feel like it has a taste of grilled intestines when I eat it? It's not fun to go out alone and constantly risk being secretly photographed, haha!
When you order original fried chicken, it comes with a packet of pepper salt, but this pepper salt seems to be slightly different from the pepper salt we are familiar with as Taiwanese. Pour it out and take a look, it should be called "salt with pepper," because pepper is just for garnishing!
Fried Chicken (₩8800) after being deep-fried. Our common impression of Korean-style fried chicken is that it is coated with a layer of sweet and spicy sauce. However, in Korea, plain fried chicken like this actually sells particularly well. This restaurant uses chicken wings for its fried chicken, which has a high meat-to-bone ratio. Each serving of fried chicken also comes with a side of crispy and delicious French fries.
I have been to Korea many times and have never had a bad experience with fried chicken. Every place I tried was delicious. I believe the key lies in the batter recipe, as Koreans use a significant amount of potato starch, which makes the coating extra crispy when fried. There is a small dish of sweet and spicy sauce, and also the salt and pepper I just mentioned. Actually, it tastes delicious even without dipping.
The Spicy Chicken (₩9800) is more expensive than the original fried chicken, and this price difference is for the sauce. That's correct, when eating fried chicken in Korea, you have to pay extra for the sauce. Anyway, this is just the original fried chicken coated with sauce version, right?
The crispy exterior complements the tender and juicy chicken inside, and the sweet and spicy sauce is just right. It's truly delicious and unbeatable when freshly fried. Do you think it tastes good based on the mess we made of the cups and plates?
