Because it's a leap month this year, autumn arrived late. Recently, I haven't needed the AC to sleep, finally feeling a hint of winter. When it gets cold, everyone craves hot pot. But organizing a big group for hot pot is troublesome. For someone like me with "no friends," a mini personal hot pot is the best companion!

"Arirang Mini Hotpot" is located on my daily commute to work at Pang Rou Ye, specifically on the section of Meichuan West Road between the Minquan Police Station and the National Taxation Bureau. It's an inconspicuous spot, but every time I pass by during meal hours, there's a huge queue outside. I thought there must be something special about it. One day, taking advantage of a lull at work while running errands, and since it was past peak hours with no queue, I decided to go in and check it out!

The shop looks like a traditional mini hotpot place, featuring a U-shaped bar counter with high chairs—classic personal seating. They mainly serve stone hotpot, and also offer a hotpot-grill combo (maybe that's why it's named "Arirang"?). Interestingly, most customers here order the very Taiwanese "Sesame Oil Chicken with Alcohol" (Shao Jiu Ji). I later found out that this place is famous for its Shao Jiu Ji! I was so ignorant!

The price list is on the wall for reference, and there's a paper menu for ordering with more detailed items. Even past meal hours, the shop was still crowded. The air conditioning was super cold; I felt I should have worn a jacket. Hahaha, it really was cold!

Like at "Xiao Yuan," condiments are brought to you after ordering for self-service. Since it was my first time, I tried their satay sauce, even though I usually don't use it for hot pot. I later discovered their chili powder is quite fragrant and delicious.

Beef Hotpot ($250). As a first-timer, I followed my routine and started with beef. 250 NTD is a standard market price.

There isn't a separate vegetable plate. After stir-frying the meat, they put the vegetables directly into the pot and add soup stock, which is different from Shabu-Shabu. That's why there are no pretty photos of a vegetable platter. However, the ingredients inside are quite rich. But you have to finish the vegetables before you can get to the meat—for those who dislike veggies, it's a form of spiritual practice!

It has all the essentials: meatballs, dumplings, frozen tofu, etc. The egg dumplings seem handmade with solid filling and taste good. The taro is creamy and doesn't fall apart after long cooking.

Since it's a stone hotpot, the staff stir-fries the meat first to release the aroma. I used to dislike this because the meat often gets overcooked and tough. However, Arirang doesn't cook the meat too thoroughly during the stir-fry, which overturned my previous bad experiences.

After eating the vegetables, I lightly poached the meat. The beef was soft and not tough. For standard beef slices, this quality is excellent, and the portion is generous!

Clams ($50). Although small, there were plenty of them, perfect for enriching the soup base. The shop's broth was already good, but with the clams added, the flavor became even more savory.
HAPPY ENDING~~~~

Finally, I used the remaining broth to cook vegetables and glass noodles, then beat an egg into it for a "Happy Ending." It's truly a delicious shop; the daily queues are well-deserved. And let me emphasize again, their signature dish is... Sesame Oil Chicken (Shao Jiu Ji)...... 🐔
