說到台中忠孝夜市,隨著時代的變遷,現在已經成為台中晚餐消夜固定夜
市的指標。相較中華夜市逐漸沒落蕭條,忠孝夜市每天晚上到飯點或是消
夜場,還能夠看到排隊用餐的人潮,但一方面這也跟附近有大學生出沒有
關。既然是老夜市就一定有許多老牌,今天這家西港牛肉麵就是老店新開!

of nearby university students. Being an old night market, it surely has many well-established
stalls. Today, I will introduce a new addition to the lineup: Xigang Beef Noodle, an
old store with a new opening!

西港牛肉麵其實在忠孝路上不只一家,記得全盛時期好像有三家的樣子,
而今天要介紹這家是總店,還有一家在忠孝路陳明統爌肉飯隔壁,叫做三
店,那二店跑去哪裡?我也找不到應該收掉了吧!
Actually, there is more than one "Xi Gang Beef Noodle" restaurant on Zhongxiao
Road. During its prime, there seemed to be three branches. Today, I want to introduce
the original/main branch, which is located next to Chen Ming Tong Braised Pork Rice
on Zhongxiao Road. This branch is known as "First Shop." There is also another branch
called "Third Shop" nearby.
As for the second branch, I couldn't find its current location. It's possible that it has
been closed down.
這家店最早的時候就在這棵榕樹下,附近的魯肉莊以前也是白天在這地方
擺攤賣早午餐,後來就是因為後面的基地要蓋房子,所以都搬離。西港牛
肉麵總店之前有搬到忠孝路過了國光路那段,不過那家店面較小,可能也
是因為這樣地家最後又搬回最初舊址對面。
This shop started earliest under this banyan tree, and the nearby "Lu Rou Zhuang"
used to set up stalls here during the day, selling brunch. However, they had to move
away because the land behind was going to be developed for housing. The main
branch of Xigang Beef Noodles had previously relocated to the section of Zhongxiao
Road after Guoguang Road, but that location had a smaller storefront. Perhaps for
this reason, they eventually moved back to the original location across the street.
新店面因為是全新裝潢,不論空間舒適度或是採光上都比之前在路邊還有
之前的店面好。如果想要體驗以前路邊攤時代的感覺,店外路邊也有擺圓
桌可以坐。這邊是夜市路邊擺桌合法,衛道人士就不要囉嗦了~

菜單上的品項繁多,其實這家骨子裡就是一家現炒店,各式現炒下酒好料
應有盡有。想吃飽的話有湯麵、炒麵、炒飯等等任君挑選。

念念不忘就是他們家的炒魷魚。而兩家西港牛肉麵的魷魚炒法並不一樣,
另一家是加沙茶炒口味比較普通,而總店的炒魷魚則是加了醋,讓整道菜
的風味層次更上一層樓。
因為爽脆的發泡魷魚本身並無太明顯風味,所以依附上去的醬料完全就是

However, the main branch's stir-fried squid is enhanced with vinegar, taking the
overall dish to another level of flavor.
因為爽脆的發泡魷魚本身並無太明顯風味,所以依附上去的醬料完全就是
這道菜美味與否的關鍵。因為加了白醋,除了可以把蔬菜的風味帶出來之
外,也有些許解膩的功效!!

碗牛雜麵裡面的牛雜份量算給得很足,都已經煮到相當軟嫩。當然,內臟
類的東西本來吃起來味道就比較重,這是很正常的!
