這趟到菲律賓,又回復之前忙碌的狀態。離開馬尼拉的前一天,冰箱前往位於馬尼拉北方兩小時車程的 TARLAC 拜訪客戶。TARLAC 這個地方大家可能不太熟悉,不過提到十多年前爆發過的平納土波火山可能大家就有點印象,這城市就在火山的附近。

On this trip to the Philippines, I returned to my busy state. The day before leaving Manila, I visited a client in TARLAC, a two-hour drive north of Manila. You might not be familiar with TARLAC, but you probably recall the eruption of Mount Pinatubo over a decade ago—this city is near the volcano.
忙碌告一段落,也到了午餐時間,於是就前往鬧區覓食去囉。今天選擇的這家叫做 DENCIO'S 的餐廳,是一間連鎖餐廳,供應的是道地的菲律賓菜色!這回到菲國,菲律賓菜還吃得真多呀 XD

After finishing my work, it was time for lunch, so we headed downtown to find food. We chose DENCIO'S, a chain restaurant serving authentic Filipino cuisine! I've really eaten a lot of Filipino food on this trip. XD

開胃必備:蝦醬芒果青與芒果冰沙
我們一行三個人,就隨便點一些東西來吃,首先上來的是蝦醬芒果青。
菲律賓盛產芒果,一年四季都吃得到芒果青。當然,這邊的芒果青無論在口感跟香氣上都比不上台灣的土芒果,SIZE 也大很多。雖然如此,搭配上菲國特有的蝦醬 BAGOONG,滋味也是很不賴喔!

There were three of us, so we ordered a few dishes. First up was the Green Mango with Shrimp Paste. The Philippines produces mangoes year-round. Although the texture and aroma can't compare to Taiwan's native mangoes, and they are much larger, they still taste great when paired with the unique Filipino shrimp paste, BAGOONG!
除了切來吃,芒果青也可以製作成青芒果冰沙唷。酸酸甜甜的口感,這是冰箱在菲國最喜歡喝的果汁之一。

Besides eating it raw, green mango can also be made into a shake. With its sweet and sour taste, it's one of my favorite juices in the Philippines.

再來這一盤魚,冰箱可是冒著"生命危險"點來嚐鮮的,因為這個魚是生的 XD 因為衛生的理由,冰箱其實不太敢在菲律賓吃生食,這天是聽了司機的建議點來嚐嚐,其實還不錯吃說。

Next up is this fish dish. I literally "risked my life" to try it because the fish is raw XD. For hygiene reasons, I usually dare not eat raw food in the Philippines. But today, I took the driver's advice and tried it—it was actually pretty good.
虱目魚的魚肚,利用大量的香辛料以及椰子醋醃漬,其實魚肉也差不多被醋給醃熟了。吃起來口感清爽,也沒有什麼魚腥味,其實讓冰箱還感覺滿意外的。不過好吃歸好吃,為了身體健康著想,這種料理以後還是會少碰為妙,哈哈!

It's milkfish belly marinated with plenty of spices and coconut vinegar; the fish is practically "cooked" by the vinegar. It tastes refreshing with no fishy smell, which surprised me. However, delicious as it is, for health's sake, I'd better avoid such dishes in the future! Haha!

沒錯,這道就是類似我們台灣常見的什錦炒麵。在先前的文章冰箱曾經提過菲律賓人的飲食,受華人影響很深,所以吃油麵在菲律賓也是一件很稀鬆平常的事。話雖如此,這炒麵在菲式料理裡面的定位還是跟我們有些許的不同。不同的地方在於,菲律賓人把炒麵當成一道佐餐的菜來吃,要配飯的唷...

暖胃熱湯與蝦醬空心菜
接下來這道湯,則是裡面什麼都有。原本想要點的是傳統的菲律賓牛腿湯,也就是帶骨牛腱肉加大白菜等等煮成的,很可惜這天該餐廳沒有供應,所以點了這道裡面有牛肉、雞肉跟一些蔬菜一起煮成的湯。大致上來說,味道還不賴,喝起來有點像紅燒牛肉湯。

Next is this soup, which has a bit of everything. I originally wanted to order the traditional Filipino Bulalo (Bone Marrow Soup), but unfortunately, it wasn't available. So, I ordered this soup cooked with beef, chicken, and vegetables. Overall, the taste wasn't bad; it tasted a bit like braised beef soup.
最後這道蝦醬空心菜,本來是要點來補充纖維質。雖然店家特製的蝦醬很香,但是這空心菜是整棵的,吃起來實在是很不方便,所以到後來冰箱反而沒吃幾根,可惜呀!

Finally, the shrimp paste water spinach (Kangkong), ordered for fiber. Although the restaurant's special shrimp paste was fragrant, the water spinach was served in whole stalks, making it very difficult to eat. In the end, I didn't eat much of it. What a pity!
整體而言,這家餐廳的菲律賓菜算是比較高檔的,所費不貲呀!還好,他們家的菜還算可口,也算是小小的安慰囉....

Overall, this restaurant serves relatively high-end Filipino cuisine, and it's quite pricey! Fortunately, the food was tasty, which was a small consolation...
