台中市區賣肉圓的不少,只是吃來吃去其實都是固定吃那麼幾家。這幾家裡面冰箱回訪率最高的,就是這家位於西屯路一段、文化街口的水金肉圓。除了好吃之外,其實這也是離我家最近的一家肉圓店,有時有點餓卻又不想吃太飽就會來,方便啦!

There are many places selling Ba-Wan (meatballs) in Taichung, but I usually stick to a few regulars. Among them, "Shui-Jin Ba-Wan," located at the corner of Xitun Rd. Sec. 1 and Wenhua St., has the highest revisit rate for me. Besides being delicious, it’s also the closest meatball shop to my home. It’s very convenient when I’m a bit hungry but don’t want a heavy meal.
十餘年的在地滋味:舒適的用餐空間
舊店址其實不在這邊,雖然也是在西屯路一段上面,可是是比較靠近五權路那一端。搬來這邊也十多年了,用餐環境比舊店寬敞。現在除了肉圓之外,也有增加鍋燒麵的項目,當正餐或點心都很適合。

The old shop wasn't here, although it was also on Xitun Rd. Sec. 1, closer to Wuquan Rd. They moved here over ten years ago, and the dining environment is much more spacious. Besides meatballs, they’ve added pot-roasted noodles to the menu, perfect for a full meal or just a snack.
紮實胛心肉餡:Q彈皮與自製甜辣醬
肉圓(40元)。說真的從小吃他們家的肉圓,就有感覺比別人貴了一點。有吃辣的一定要加點甜辣醬才夠味,他們家的甜辣醬說是醬,我倒覺得比較像糊,基本上很黏,而且不太會辣,不吃辣的人也可以試試看。
肉餡採用新鮮胛心肉塊,再裹上混著筍丁利用五香調味過的肉泥,肉塊咬起來口感相當紮實。肉圓皮口感超Q又不會覺得很粉,半透明的色澤讓人一看就食指大動。

Ba-Wan (40 NTD). To be honest, their meatballs have always felt a bit pricier than others. If you like a kick, their homemade sweet chili sauce is a must—it's more like a thick paste and isn't very spicy. The filling uses fresh pork shoulder chunks wrapped in a five-spice seasoned meat paste mixed with bamboo shoots. The meat is very solid, and the skin is extremely chewy without being floury. The translucent skin is irresistible.
季節限定好湯:大坑麻竹筍與處理得當的粉腸
通常我會點一顆肉圓加一碗湯。夏天是吃筍子的好時機,這裡選用大坑的麻竹筍,爽脆鮮甜。這碗筍子湯(20元) 是古早味的大骨味精湯底,這就是道地的台灣味!加點胡椒粉更有兒時記憶的味道。粉腸湯(40元) 的粉腸也處理得很好,熟度掌握得宜,不會太爛也不會太韌。

I usually pair a meatball with a bowl of soup. Summer is the perfect time for bamboo shoot soup (20 NTD), using fresh and crisp bamboo from Taichung's Dakeng area. The broth is a classic Taiwanese small-eat style with a nostalgic bone-broth base—adding extra white pepper makes it perfect. The Fen-Chang (Pork Intestine) Soup (40 NTD) is also well-prepared, with the intestines having the perfect texture.
冰箱私房吃法:剩下的醬汁別浪費
吃完肉圓,碗底剩下的筍丁跟醬汁別浪費。加點湯進去混合,就變成一碗略帶濃稠感的自製筍丁羹,這樣吃全部掃光沒問題!全部吃完也才 100 元,台灣小吃真的是天堂!

Don't waste the remaining sauce and bamboo shoot bits at the bottom of the bowl. My secret tip is to add some soup into the bowl to mix with the sauce, creating a thick, flavorful "bamboo shoot pottage." The whole meal costs only around 100 NTD—Taiwanese street food is truly a paradise!
