為了避開清明節那時候掃墓的人潮,這天特別幫兩個小人請了半天假,利用平日下午的時間,帶他們到萬佛寺讓他們在天上的太曾祖父母及曾祖父母看看。這天可是我女兒長到6歲人生中第一次掃墓,可是意義非凡的呢。祭完祖先,決定就近在霧峰市區簡單吃一下再上路。

To avoid the Qingming Festival crowds, I took a half-day off for my kids and visited Wanfo Temple during a weekday afternoon to pay respects to their great-great-grandparents and great-grandparents. 霧峰老街風情:派出所對面的巷弄名店
因為也不想吃太飽,加上我老婆也愛吃肉圓,所以最後就決定來這家老店肉圓婆打打牙祭。店址位於民權街,對面就是霧峰派出所,雖然開在巷子裡,但其實相當簡單好找。招牌上寫著肉圓、三種冰與木瓜牛奶,不過這次去沒看到冰品的跡象,用餐區的擺設倒非常有懷舊冰果室的感覺。

Since we didn't want a heavy meal and my wife loves meatballs (Ba-Wan), we chose the long-standing "Meatball Grandma" (Rou Yuan Po). Located on Minquan Street right across from the Wufeng Police Station, it's easy to find. The sign mentions shaved ice and papaya milk, though I didn't see any ice products this time. The dining area still retains that nostalgic 1950s fruit-ice parlor vibe.

看到油鍋裡面這麼多肉圓在滾動,愛吃肉圓的朋友心情一定會很美麗。一旁尚未下鍋的肉圓可以隱約看見內餡,感覺就是顆不錯的作品。醬料區甜醬、辣醬、醬油膏及蒜泥一應俱全。提醒大家,這裡的肉圓預設是不加香菜的,想吃的話記得先交代老闆。

The filling is a large, firm ball of five-spice seasoned pork shoulder, offering a great chew without any gamey smell. The skin is thick and very bouncy, perfect for filling you up.
