來到南投中興新村，除了欣賞優美的環境和眷村文化，當然也不能錯過在地美食！今天要推薦一家飄香超過一甲子的老字號麵店「老夫子牛肉麵」。
這家店就位在中興新村員工福利社入口處的第一家，非常好找！😉 這裡不僅提供經典的牛肉麵，還有各式各樣的家常麵食和小菜~

When visiting Nantou's Zhongxing New Village, aside from enjoying the beautiful surroundings and military dependents' village culture, you absolutely cannot miss the local cuisine! Today, I'm recommending a long-standing noodle shop with over 60 years of history: Lao Fu Zi Beef Noodle Soup.
This shop is conveniently located right at the entrance of the Zhongxing New Village Employee Welfare Center - you can't miss it! 😉 Not only do they offer classic beef noodles, but they also have a variety of home-style noodles and side dishes.
1. 中興新村的時代記憶
中興新村是台灣省政府所在地，在過去還沒凍省的時代，這個地方曾經被譽為中部五縣市最適合居住的地方之一。但隨著省府的凍結，許多人口幾年下來也逐漸外移，不過員工消費合作社這邊的經典美食到現在還好都在沒消失。
過去這邊是中興新村員工日常生活的重心，舉凡用餐、採買、甚至洗衣服等等都集中在這邊。現在這邊剩下大部分的店家都是老店，而且可能老店最起碼店齡都 50 年起跳~
這邊賣牛肉麵的有兩家，一家是老胡而另一家就是入口第一家，今天要跟大家分享的老夫子。過去我來到這邊其實都是吃老胡，這次突然心血來潮想再吃，結果到現場發現老胡沒開。既然人都到了，那就試試看吃老夫子。

Zhongxing New Village was once the seat of the Taiwan Provincial Government. Before the provincial government was dissolved, this place was considered one of the best places to live in the five central counties and cities. But with the freezing of the provincial government, many people gradually moved out over the years. However, the classic food at the employee consumer cooperative here has thankfully not disappeared.
In the past, this was the center of daily life for Zhongxing New Village employees. Everything from dining and shopping to even laundry was concentrated here. Now, most of the remaining shops here are long-established businesses, and those businesses likely have been around for at least 50 years.
There are two beef noodle shops here. One is Lao Hu, and the other is the first shop at the entrance, Lao Fu Zi, which I'm sharing with you today. In the past, I always ate at Lao Hu when I came here. This time, I suddenly had a craving for beef noodles again, but when I arrived, I found that Lao Hu was closed. Since I was already there, I decided to give Lao Fu Zi a try.
2. 經典眷村小吃：粉條與酸豇豆
小菜種類很多，有滷味有小菜，大部分都是很常見的眷村味。小菜除了牛肉跟牛筋等特殊品項其他均一價好像都是 40 元。雖然還有好幾樣想拿，不過這一些已經讓我飽到天靈蓋了。
麻醬涼拌粉條是很經典的外省小菜，這個目前在外面很少吃得到。Q彈滑順的粉條搭配爽脆的小黃瓜，淋上濃郁的麻醬，清爽開胃。
酸豇豆，又稱酸豆角，是將豇豆醃漬發酵而成，帶有獨特的酸香風味，是許多人喜愛的開胃小菜，我自己就超喜歡這一味。老夫子版的酸豇豆加入薑末拌炒，吃起來的味道因為有加糖比較偏甜。

There are many kinds of side dishes, including braised dishes and cold dishes, most of which are very common "military dependents' village flavors." Aside from special items like beef and beef tendon, all other side dishes seem to be a uniform price of 40 NTD. Even though there were still a few more things I wanted to try, this was already enough to fill me up to the brim!
Cold sesame noodles with cucumber is a classic Chinese dish that is rarely found these days. The chewy and smooth noodles, paired with crisp cucumber and drizzled with rich sesame sauce, make for a refreshing and appetizing dish.
Dou jiao, also known as pickled long beans, is made by pickling and fermenting long beans. It has a unique sour and fragrant flavor, making it a popular appetizer for many. I personally love this dish! The version at Lao Fu Zi includes ginger, and the taste is on the sweeter side due to added sugar.
3. 現炸排骨與紅燒牛肉麵
炸排骨單點60元：帶骨豬排裹上一層薄粉現點現炸，上桌前須要帶點耐心。百分之百原肉製作，也沒有加入太多科技活，所以吃起來的口感會稍微偏硬，但至少沒有像大部分的小吃店為了口感加了很多添加物。吃起來的感覺，跟一般平價排骨便當店的差不多，口感有比較乾一點。
紅燒牛肉麵100元：牛肉麵沒有很大碗，但以目前物價 100 元的價位勉強還是能接受。
牛肉採用的是牛腩部位，基本上這個肉已經滷得非常軟了，個人覺得有肉味但是沒口感，味道還 OK。麵條是一般的陽春麵，反正就是很家常的那種，也有點像是麵干下去煮出來的。其實這也不是不無可能，因為店家有宅配販售冷凍調理包。
湯頭不是什麼又濃又香的那種，我個人的感覺很像小時候眷村同學媽媽煮的口味。也許這種湯頭現在對很多人來說太像洗碗水，不過在過去這種水準的牛肉湯可是極品，因為那年代吃牛肉的人本來就不多。

Fried Pork Chop (60 NTD): The bone-in pork chop, coated in a thin layer of flour, is fried to order, so you'll need a bit of patience before it arrives at your table. Made with 100% real meat and without relying on too many "technological enhancements," the texture is a bit on the tougher side. But at least they haven't added a lot of additives like most small eateries do to improve the texture. It tastes similar to the pork chops you find in typical budget-friendly bento shops, perhaps a little drier.
Braised Beef Noodle Soup (100 NTD): The bowl of beef noodles isn't very big, but considering the current cost of living, the price of 100 NTD is still somewhat acceptable.
The beef they use is beef brisket. It's been braised to the point of being very tender. Personally, I think it has a good beefy flavor, but lacks texture. The taste is decent overall. The noodles are your typical thin noodles, the kind you'd find in a casual home-cooked meal. They also resemble the kind made from dried noodles. Actually, that's not entirely out of the question, as the shop also offers frozen meal kits for delivery.
The broth isn't the super rich and fragrant kind. To me, it tastes very similar to the beef soup my classmates' moms used to make in the military dependents' village when we were kids. Perhaps this kind of broth might seem too bland to many people today, but back in the day, this level of beef soup was considered top-notch, because not many people ate beef then.
4. 冰箱評價與總結
吃完的感想就是便宜實惠，體驗一種時代的氛圍與不修飾的家常味。不過下次如果有機會再來，我應該還是會去隔壁吃老胡麵館，因為口味上比較合我的胃口，就提供給大家做個參考囉！

My impression after eating there is that it's cheap and decent. If I have the chance to come back again, I'll probably still go to Lao Hu Noodle Shop next door, as it suits my taste better. Just a suggestion for everyone!
